Curiosity Companions is the shared home of our two nature subscriptions, bringing children beautifully illustrated, screen-free adventures rooted in real science.
For ages 4–7, Curiosity Crew begins with one creature, exploring its world through stories, sensory play and discoveries shared with a grown-up. For ages 8–12, Curiosity Club opens up a different ecosystem each month through scientific investigations, writing and imaginative activities.
Each adventure connects what children read with things to make, ideas to test and nature to discover outdoors, building curiosity, understanding and confidence to explore.

Where we come from
I’m Ria, a mother of two, illustrator and science communicator with a background in biological sciences and neuroscience. Curiosity Companions brings together my love of understanding how nature works and making beautiful things that help children explore it.
I create every edition with my husband Jake, an ecologist and Director of an Environmental Research Institute. Together, we think carefully about the science we share and how one discovery leads to the next. We write the stories, develop and test the activities, and I illustrate each adventure. Our daughters explore alongside us, helping us see what sparks a question, needs another explanation or invites another go.
We want children to discover how fascinating nature is, and to feel confident asking their own questions about it. Each adventure connects stories and ideas with things to try and discoveries to make outdoors. I hope it brings connection and delight to your family, too.

What ages are Curiosity Crew and Curiosity Club suitable for?
🌿 Curiosity Crew: Ages 4–7
Designed for children who enjoy learning through stories, movement and hands-on exploration. Each adventure explores one creature’s world through simple science, creative play and outdoor discovery. Younger children explore alongside a grown-up, while older children can take more of the lead as their confidence grows.
🔬 Curiosity Club: Ages 8–12
Written for children ready to explore science in greater depth and with increasing independence. Each adventure explores a different ecosystem through reading, writing, investigations and creative challenges. Some practical activities need adult support. Not every section needs to be completed, and ideas can be revisited as understanding grows.
A note about seven-year-olds
Some seven-year-olds thrive in Crew’s stories and shared exploration; others feel ready for Club’s reading and investigations. Your child’s interests, reading confidence and preferred way of exploring matter more than age alone. If you’re unsure, we’re always happy to help you choose.
What is the difference between Crew and Club and is there overlap?
Curiosity Crew (ages 4–7) begins with one creature, exploring its world through stories, sensory play, simple science and shared discovery with a grown-up. Curiosity Club (ages 8–12) explores a different ecosystem each month through deeper scientific investigation, writing and creative challenges, with increasing independence.
Each subscription has its own stories, experiments and activities. Themes and ideas may connect, but the adventures are written and designed separately for each age group.
When your child is ready to move from Crew to Club, just get in touch and we’ll arrange the switch. You can also move from Club to Crew if that feels like a better fit.
Do you offer a sibling discount?
Yes. We offer a 10% sibling discount for families receiving both Curiosity Crew and Curiosity Club.
This can be applied at checkout if you sign up for them at the same time, or arranged by contacting us directly.
Is this suitable for home education or after-school enrichment?
Both. Many families use Curiosity Companions as part of their home education rhythm, while others enjoy it as thoughtful after-school enrichment.
Each edition stands alone, offering depth without overwhelm, and over time they build into a growing collection of discovery that children return to again and again.
What materials will we need at home?
Most experiments use simple, everyday materials you are likely to already have. Crafts use items like scrap cardboard, paper plates or cups.
Everything is designed to feel manageable and meaningful, without specialist equipment or unnecessary extras.
How does shipping work?
UK subscriptions include free Royal Mail Tracked 48 delivery. Editions are usually dispatched around the 7th of each month.

Curiosity Companions was created as a thoughtful alternative to fast, throwaway activities. Each edition gives children time to explore, understand and create, with beautiful materials to keep and ideas worth returning to.
Adventures connect the nature children can notice close to home with the wider world of species, habitats and ecosystems. Stories, science and creative activities build on one another, helping children understand how it all fits together.
Activities use simple, everyday materials, with crafts favouring upcycled resources. Clear guidance keeps preparation manageable, leaving room to follow a question or spend longer on something that catches their interest.
